A couple of years ago a brave person trusted Eski to help her tell a raw and painful story with that most admirable of aims – to try to make a difference. An outcome of this act of trust is the news that “The Left Behind” has been shortlisted as Best Public Sector Campaign.

Creating a short film and supporting resources required a ‘human’ way of working to tread the line between sensitivity surrounding a young man losing his life, alongside the hard-hitting impact our research with our target audience showed us we needed.

The campaign purpose is to show people that the devasting effect on families, friends and loved ones never leaves you. Our aim was to achieve to significantly reduce serious accidents and fatalities from road traffic collisions involving stolen motorbikes and cars.

The film was produced by Eski, with filming and editing by Storyboard Media, and contributor interviews by the Hull Story. It complements ongoing partnership work between Humberside Police, Hull City Council, the OPCC for Humberside, along with youth services, the NHS, Safer Roads Humber, and Humberside Fire and Rescue.

The Left Behind premiered within the community by being projected onto the side of a Supermarket at the heart of the Orchard Park estate on a cold Friday evening in March to an audience of over 300 residents. Kudos to Hull City Council’s Safer Hull, Community Safety and Events team, along with Humberside Police for making that happen.

Following the launch, the campaign has been engaged with thousands of times online and presented to over 21,000 school students in the Humberside area.

Quantitative and qualitative evidence gathered by partners shows that the Left Behind changed heart and minds, leading to actions that have saved lives.

It has been over a decade since Eski transitioned from being a commercial agency, to being a purpose-driven team dedicating all our efforts to creating campaigns and media exclusively for social impact. Being shortlisted for UK-wide campaigns alongside huge brands and internationally trading marketing agencies is an honour for everyone involved. We never succeed in isolation and Eski were part of a team. This award nomination represents the courage of many people, especially those sharing their story.

We’ll keep researching and creating media and campaigns that create awareness, challenge attitudes and change behaviours on many of the most challenging health and social issues we face as a society. Many of which are profiled at www.eski.media

Regardless of whether it takes the title, it is very rewarding to see the social impact this important work has had within and beyond our community. Trust us, it means a lot.
